Susan Olesek describes herself as a “Human Potentialist,” a consultant in pursuit of what’s possible for people. In her consulting, coaching, and facilitation work with corporations, churches, schools, non-profit organizations, jails and prisons, she uses the Enneagram, “an incisive, cognitive-emotional self-assessment tool that gets to the heart of understanding ourselves and others.”
In 2012, Susan founded the Enneagram Prison Project (EPP), a burgeoning non-profit organization headquartered in northern California with international affiliates as far as Finland, whose mission is to offer self-awareness/self-regulation training to the incarcerated. The EPP education process includes in-depth application of the Enneagram system, combined with mindfulness meditation and somatic practices. Susan says, “traditionally the Enneagram has been taught in white, privileged, esoteric circles, but it has always been meant for everyone.”
HKIS Humanities teacher Marty Schmidt appreciated when Susan, driven by a passionate conviction about her work in prisons, said that “Anyone brave enough to take an honest look at themselves is fully deserving of the liberation that is possible from applying the wisdom of the Enneagram system.”
