Dr. Barbara E. Warren is Director for LGBT Programs and Policies in the Office for Diversity and Inclusion at Mount Sinai Health System in New York City and an Assistant Professor of Medical Education at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Barbara has been the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions for her work including the US Congressional Commendation, the Distinguished Service Award from the Association of Lesbian and Gay Psychiatrists and the Community Service Award from the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
Previously she was the Distinguished Lecturer and founding Director of the Center for LGBT Social Science and Public Policy at Hunter College, City University of New York. For over 21 years, she served on the senior management team of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center of New York City.
She has over 30 years of experience in the development and implementation of substance abuse, mental health, HIV, and public health programs in community-based settings.
Barbara’s sister Nancy said proudly: “I’ve been inspired and moved many times by her deep compassion and advocacy for those who have been abandoned by their families, peers and communities because of their difference in sexual orientation or identity.”
