  • What compositional rules did you apply?

I applied the rule of repetition and pattern in this photograph. In this photograph, you can see that I took a picture of Max jumping off the steps in the amphitheater so I could capture each moment of him in mid-air.

  • What story/message/mood are you trying to convey through your photographs?

The message I’m trying to say here is that there are always ups and downs in life. This is because nobody’s life is perfect. There are always bad things and good things going on in our lives but there is no need to stress about it because in the end of the day we are still who we are and we still do what we do. That’s why this picture I took and edited is a very good resemblance of my message because in the beginning Max was on the steps which meant that he is at a monotone state in his life. Then he goes up which means there is excitement but then he goes down and lands again which means there may be some negativity that came back into his life.

  • What do you think are the 3 most important elements in creating the abstract photograph? (arrangement of objects, foreground vs. background, light and shadow, perspective, proportion etc.)

I think the 3 most important elements in creating these action photos are arrangement of objects, perspective, and placement. Arrangement of objects is important because it is what creates the action. Perspective is essential because it is how you took the angle in which angle and how the person looking at the photo interpret it. The placement in these photographs are extremely important and it is similarly like the arrangement of objects. The placement allows the person who is looking at the picture know what you are trying to say and why.

  •  What compositional rules did you apply?

I applied the rule of line in this photograph. It might not seem that obvious but when I look at this picture, I see the arms and legs of Max sticking out which kind of looks like lines going in towards the centre of Max’s body. Also, if you look at the picture closely, there are more lines in the background. The plants are all on a straight line and the benches are all straight lines too.

  • What story/message/mood are you trying to convey through your photographs?

The lesson I’m trying to tell in this photograph is that no matter what goes on in your life, you should stay happy. In this photograph you can see that Max is happy because he is smiling and spreading his arms and legs out in mid-air. This truly represents happiness in life because there are many people in this world that is pessimistic and are not positive at all. But after this photo, Max showed the whole world that everybody should be happy and joyful.

  • What compositional rules did you apply?

I applied the rule of form and triangles in this photograph. You can see here that I took this photograph in the hallway of classrooms so it could create the effect of the picture closing in and focusing on Max’s jumping body. Also, the rule of triangles have a minor role in this picture and it is that a triangle appears in between Max’s legs when he jumps.

  • What story/message/mood are you trying to convey through your photographs?

The story behind this picture is Michael Jordan. The message of this picture is a little different from all my other pictures because instead of telling a deep lesson, this picture’s message is about Michael Jordan. Every time I look at this picture I think of Michael Jordan’s signature dunk and the logo on the air JORDAN shoe brand. He is a great sports person and has reached amazing achievements throughout his career. One important thing about Michael Jordan is that he actually didn’t make it into his high school basketball team. After that he practiced and practiced and finally became successful. I think the life message he gives to the world is to never give up and always go for your dreams.
