8th Grade Narrative Writing

I was really proud of getting an ME word choice area. I had a problem using different words for my sentences and I was really happy that I was able to use the right language to capture my idea in each sentence.

Maybe some challenges that I had with this piece, was my sentence fluency. I have a struggle in this area when it comes to transition words or a fluent sentence structure. My sentences are really chunky and cut off by not giving the right amount of idea for the reader. I would need to work on this and my goal for next time when I write a narrative or any kind of writing, would be to focus on my sentence fluency.

With my writing I was very pleased with finding the right narrative to draw the reader in. It was interesting and had a lot of points like adventure and I was really focusing on that when I was writing.

Maybe some challenges with this was some punctuation. I sometimes put commas in the wrong place and added extra words that didn’t need to be included.

Batman V.S The Penguin Debate

1: Question – What is The Penguin’s main idea? What are his reasons?

Answer –  His main idea is that Batman is always seen with criminals but the Penguin is always seen with police. Reasons to prove his statement are: 1. He wears a mask. 2. He seen with criminals. 3. The Penguin is about to get arrested.

2: Question – What evidence does he use to support his reasons?

Answer – The evidence he supports his reasons is that Batman is always on the covers of newspapers capturing criminals.

3: Question –  How does Batman start his rebuttal? (When two people debate, one of them makes an argument, followed by a rebuttal from the other person. The rebuttal basically states, “No, you’re wrong, and this is why.”)

Answer – ” My fellow citizens, let me begin by pointing out any inconsistency.”

4: Question – What kind of tactics do you think are fair or unfair in debating, based on this example?

Answer – Fair: Supporting his statements, giving true facts/ telling the truth.

Unfair: Lying, causing distractions, insulting the opponent.

5: Question –  Who seems to have the best manner? Why?

Answer – Batman seems to have the best manner because he was the telling the truth and he didn’t distract his opposition which wasn’t rude.

PaintChip Poem

Arizona sunset is the color of my two – wheeler bike. I remember when I was six years old with my dad next to me teaching me out my backyard on how to start a two – wheeler bike and how it felt to be happy. I can still hear the bells from the other bikes passing by. I can still see the helmets of the bike riders. I miss spending time with my dad. Arizona sunset is the color of my two wheeler bike.

Selfie Poem

My name is Noa but people call me the curly one.

I am 11 years old, turning 12 in June and I live in Hong Kong.

My skin color is as light as a sunflower.

My eye color is goldish brown like milk chocolate.

My hair color is the color of my eyes and I have curly hair. That’s why people call me the curly one.

Friends and family like me as a friend because I help them in need and I make people laugh.

I am happy all the time and hug my friends really tight.

My favorite saying that I always say to my friends when I hug them is: “I love you too!”
