Romeo And Juliet

What have you learned about the contrast between you and you parents’s answers on the “perfect mate” worksheet?  Me and my parents answers are quite similar actually. The only difference was that I wrote a little bit more about appearance than my parents did. I have about three traits that have something to do with appearance or body but my parents don’t have anything. But as it goes for the personality traits, me and my parents answers are quite similar. We all wrote caring and funny. I also do not think I wrote every single trait I would really want, and realised I forgot some when I looked at my parents side. I think that personally me and my parents have the same outlook on life and on what a good partner would be.   Romeo And Juliet Act 1, Scene 1 in my words. There was a fight between the Montague and Capulet families. The Prince than heard about the disturbance and rode in to confront the people. The families were let off the hook, but the Prince said they would be punished by death if another disturbance came. Romeo comes back from being at the tree and finds out about the feud, but he does not know what family was involved. He than get angry with his father for displaying hate. Romeo And Juliet Act 1, Scene 2 in my words. Paris asks Juliet’s father  if he can marry he, but he thinks she is too young. So, the father tells Paris to win over her heart and invited him to the feast at the ball. Romeo And Juliet Act 1, scene 3 in my words Juliet’s mother tries to confront her about wedding to Paris. Juliet does not want to love him though. The maid is also interrupting making it much harder for the mother to get her point across. Juliet tries her best to hide her pain because she does not want to get married so early   Romeo And Juliet Act 1, scene 4 Mercuto tries to get Romeo to come to the kings feast, but Romeo doesn’t want to go because he had a dream of an untimely death. Mercuto than makes fun of Romeo for his foolish ways, and eventually gets Romeo to go to the party   Romeo And Juliet Act 1 Scene 5 Romeo and Juliette are at the ball, and Juliette immediately catches Romeo’a eye. Romeo dances with Juliette, and they begin to fall in love. Meanwhile, people know that he is from the house of Montage. Romeo and Juliette kiss twice, but Juliette is meant to be Paris’s wife. Act 2, Scene 1 After the feast is over, Romeo runs away from his friends and climbs the wall of Juliet’s house to try to go back to her. Romeo And Juliette Act 2, Scene 2 Romeo shows up at Juliette’s house and finds her sitting on her window. The start kissing a lot and proclaiming how much they love each other. In the end, Juliette decides to send a messenger to decide the time of when they will marry. Than, they say a very long goodbye. R+J Act 2, scene 3 Romeo meets with Frier Laurence  and asked to be wed with Juliette. He at first laughs because of the fact that he moved on from Rosalyn so quickly, but than decided to wed them despite their family feud. Act 2 scene 4 The maid tries to approach Romeo but is faced with many young men. They begin to make fun of her clothing and she fights back. It eventually turns into a full blown street war. Once Romeo ends it, the maid takes him into a church to tell him when they will wed. She than gets excited and tells Romeo about when she was a child. Act 2 scene 5 The nurse comes back to Juliet’s home to deliver the news, but she tries not to tell directly. Juliet gets upset when she won’t tell her, and finally the nurse delivers the news that she will be married at Frier Laurence’s cell in the afternoon. Act 2 scene 6 Romeo and Juliet meet at the church to get married. They kiss a lot and than get married. The priest tells romeo to love moderately. Act 3 scene 1 Tybalt challenges Romeo to a fight, but instead mercucio accepted it. After a while of sword fighting, Tyballt killed mercucio. Then, Romeo got so mad that he fought against Tybalt. He ended up winning, killing Tybalt. Romeo’s friends try to get him away from the scene as he is very dazed. Act 3 scene 2 The two houses fight for who should be punished for the deaths. The unfair decision is that Romeo will be punished.Romeo is banished from the land. He gets to spend one more night with Juliet, but than has to leave. Act 3 Scene 3 Juliette is crying about Romeo (her mother thinks its about Tybalt) and is told the news of her marriage to Paris to try to cheer her up. She obviously does not like this news and starts crying and wailing. Her father comes up to scold her for her refusal. Act 4 scene 1 Juliette goes to Frier for help. There she finds Paris who reminds her of their wedding. Once Juliette and Frier get into privacy he gives her a potion that will make her sleep for 42 hours without a pulse. She is directed to take it the night before the wedding. The plan hopes that the wedding will be called off and Romeo will come to take her away. Act 4 scene 2 Juliette tells her father that she want to get married to Paris and he moves the wedding up a day. So, Juliet drinks the potion once her nurse and Mother leave her alone.

Act 4 scene 3

Juliette drink the potion and there is a funeral the next day in replace of a wedding. Romeo’s servant, Balthasar goes from Mantua to Verona to spy on Juliette. He sees the wedding and passes the mail man carrying the letter warning Romeo that she is not dead.

Act 5 scene 1

Romeo hears of Juliette’s death and races back to verona with his servant.

Act 5 scene 2

Romeo visits Juliet’s tomb and sees her. He decides to kill himself and drinks the poison. He than dies next to her. Than, Juliet wakes up and Frier Laurence is by her side. She realises that Romeo is dead and looks for leftover poison. She does not find any so instead stabs herself with Romeos dagger. They die next to each other.

Champion Reflection Blog

I enjoyed a lot about the Champions project, but I think that the thing i enjoyed most was the press conference because I found it fun to dress up as my person, Maria Tallchief and to present and answer the questions in front of the class.

I think the thing that helped me learn the most during the unit was watching videos of Maria dance because even though there wasn’t much about her personality online, I could almost infer and see her personality in her dancing.

I think that the most challenging part about this whole unit was writing as Maria because of the fact that I did not know much about her in real life. There weren’t many interviews with her which which would have helped learn about her. Overall I think I did pretty well writing in her shoes with the information I had.

I think I would just look over and edit my pieces more thoroughly especially my journal entry and timeline because they were not well edited and not my best work when the easily could have been. My timeline grade was also brought down because of the fact that I didn’t look at my work carefully.

If I could do this unit again I would definitely choose a more well known and more documented person because it was hard to find information about her, (I am forever grateful for Maria’s book) and I also found myself having to repeat myself and completely reintroduce myself to every single person during the gallery. It may have been a bit easier if people knew my person beforehand and if there was more information about her.

I suggest that next year Mr. Pierce lengthens the deadlines for the map and timeline a little more because not everyone has loads of time after school every day and I felt like something was due every week. I also feel that he should lengthen the time between when the drafts and finals are dues because some people have to put more work or even restart for the final product after the feedback.

How are you progressing on completing your model? How did you cooperate as a group today? What else do you need to bring to finish your project? What are “road blocks” you still need to solve?

Our model is nearly done, we just have to attach all of our organs onto the body using zip ties/tape. That should only take around 30 minutes at MOST. Today we had a little bit of disagreement within  our group that lead to us being off task. But after we sorted out our bumps in the road we ended up being pretty productive. All we really need to bring to finish out project will be big zip ties to attach the large intestine. The only road block we will need to solve will be our disagreements.

Science Blog Post 1

1. What body system did you pick to build as a working model (7th grade)?

I chose the digestive system.

2. Why have you decided to build this body system as a working model (7th grade)?

I decided to build this system because I found it to be one of the most important systems. I also thought it would be a bit of a challenge to make all of the parts of the digestive system.

3. What materials are you going to need to complete your build (7th grade)?

– clear tubing

– zip ties

– glue

– cardboard

– black paint

– some sort of homemade bile or food

Champions! Maria Tallchief

Maria Tall chief was a very compassionate, resilient, collaborative and creative person. Maria had to deal with being different from the average ballerina, to choreographing for some very famous companies. Maria has had to face many challenges but has shown the world that she can overcome anything from denial to childish teasing. Maria is also extremely compassionate towards young children and has done great work in the ballet world to end stereotyping. Maria Tallchief is an inspiration and roll model to the world.

Blog Post #2

This unit was about China and its population growth. From this unit I learned about how China is trying to become less polluted and dirty. It is working towards zero population growth, and trying to become more eco friendly.

I am aiming for the Bartlome De Casas in the gold rank because last time I got it in the bronze rank. The way I am going to receive this badge is by listening more closely in class and getting better grades on tests by studying my terms. I can meet with Mr. pierce before or after school to discuss study ethics. I can also use the strategies Mr. Pierce and I talked about.

My new table has helped a little bit with talking because none of my friends are at my table. And my goal was to be less distracted, so I think I am achieving it.

My conferences went okay, I was expecting most of it and knew about what I had to improve on. Mr. Pierce and I discussed better ways to study and get better grades on tests. My goal is to get more MEs on tests and to be less distracted in class. I can work on that by sitting in places were I wont be distracted and studying the right way for tests.

Last week, hundreds of people gathered in Admiralty, Mon Kok, and Causeway Bay to protest. These protests are for democracy. They don’t like how Hong Kong is ruled and want CY Leung to step down and for the candidates of elections not to be pre selected. A lot of the protestors are local students who want a better and peaceful future. I think it is great that people are worried about the future of Hong Kong, but I also think it is a pain for the roads to be closed. I makes it harder for people living here to get around, and makes it hard for people to get to work. I also do not agree with the fact that the police are pepper spraying and tear gassing their own citizens. This is common in other protests, but this is a peaceful protest. There is not suposed to me any harm caused to police or civilians. I don’t understand why they feel the need to do this. I know they are just trying to get the people to move and stop getting over the barriers, but they could vocally threaten or use less harmful ways of doing this. There is no reason to be violent, as this could cause the people to fight back.

SS Unit One Reflection

Bartolome De Las Casas Badge

“Bartolomé De Las Casas.” Bartolomé De Las Casas. Wikipedia, n.d. Web.

Bartolome de las casas was a spanish explorer who fought to free Native American slaves.

Bartolomedelascasas

In this unit, unit one of the TCI textbook, we learned about mapping and geography. We learned about basic features in a map, like a compass rose, key, and title. We also learned about types of map projections,

On the survey, it asked what we enjoyed most about the unit, and I answered the current events game becuase it is really fun and competitive. I feel like I learn better in a competitive environment, even though that sound weird  It is aslo really fun and is almost a break from “boring” classwork.

I was awarded the Bartolome De Casas badge in the bronze tear, and I completely agree with his choice. I think I need to work on my work habits and maybe study a tiny bit harder for tests, but overall i think im doing okay. Bartolome was the badge after the first, and I think that the description is exactly what I thought about my work in class.

One learning strategy that didn’t work last unit was sitting with my friends. We were able to choose our own seats at first, and I made poor choices by sitting with people I like to talk with. This significantly lowered my work habits because I was talking and not paying attention. I think I am doing much better because of the new seating arrangement and think I will be able to improve my work habits.

My goal is to not talk to people by sitting far away from my friends and consulting Mr. Pierce if I am placed with someone I can’t work with. Seeing my work habits kind of opened my eyes and made me realize I need to work harder at keeping focused. I

Grammar

Comma Review

24/9/14

•Comma splices are bad because they connect two separate sentences and make it one.

•Use a comma when making a list, they separate different objects or things.

• The oxford comma is used when making a list, but is only used by some people because it is only used in some parts of the world.

•You can’t just use commas to add a pause in your sentence.

•Commas are used in dates. They are used in short phrases.

•When using more than one adjective to support a noun

• When you are addressing a particular person

•Dont use commas after a conjunction!

Punctuating Dialoge

• If the sentence is interrupted, you must put a comma at the end of the dialoge and the end of the pause. You must also start and stop your quotation marks, for example:

GOOD:

“Margie stop,” Cristina demanded, “Your acting like an annoying littlefour year old!”

BAD:

“Im older than you” Christina wailed “So don’t tell me what to do.”

• The punctuation goes before the end quotation, not after

“Hey, wanna come and play soccer with us“? Carly asked.

• You have to start a new line after each person speaks

“Well, I was just trying to help,” Julia defended, “Im sorry Issabel.”

“Well you messed up, and Im never going to forgive you now!”

“Fine with me.”
