End Of Year Reflection

I think this year was a great year. I had so much fun in my first year of middle school. I think that I have changed as a reader because i have been reading more mature books, and kind of read more genres than just non-fiction. I feel that I have really branched out since last year. For example, I have read so many more books this year than I did last year. I have read 20 books so far this year, and last year I barely read any. I feel so much accomplishment from this.I also feel I have changed as a writer because I have been writing a lot more mature pieces. For example, I have been writing so many more essays, and I feel I have goten so much better at writing them since last year. I think I have also changed so much in typing because before I can into grade 6, I could barely type. I was almost picking at the keys. But now I can type almost without looking at the keyboard. I have noticed that we have worked our way up from places that were not well developed, to places that are very well developed. For example, we started out studying Africa, a very undeveloped country, and worked our way up to ancient Greece and China. I have also noticed that I have learned to like history a little bit better. I used to hate social studies and now I look forward to having it.

What are you most looking forward to in 7th grade?

CYOA Self Assessment

I think me and Emma got an AE because  because we do have three relevant sources, but I only did one, our story did not include the information we researched, and my part of the story is pretty short. I think we could have worked a little harder on the CYOA. But we also did work very hard. I feel like Emma worked a little bit more than me, but I also feel that I did my part. I feel like maybe we could have done a little bit better if we had worked a little harder and longer. I also feel like the project may have been a little rushed as well because I felt like I din’t have enough time. But overall, I feel we both got an AE.

Class Self Reflection

  1. White Hat: What was some of the important learning from your piece(s) of work? Give examples or specifics and NOT just a list.
My POM scrapbook  because I worked really hard on both of those. I spent a lot of time on my POM scrapbook. It is also filled with a whole lot of information that I didn’t used to know. It was alo really fun to make. I had a lot of fun making it and editing it too. All the labs that we did for it were really fun and I loved taking pictures.
  1. Yellow Hat: What were some positives about creating the piece of work? Did you have any ah-ha moments? What new things did you learn that you are proud of?
While making the POM scrapbook, I worked a lot on that and I had learned so much more about properties of matter. I had learned so much about boiling point, states of matter, and density. Creating the scrapbook helped me understand this unit so much more.
  1. Black Hat: What were some difficulties with your learning on this piece of work? How did you overcome them or solve them?
I was a little bit disorganised  because I had gotten all the labs mixed up, but when we received the POM checkoff sheet, I was much more organised.
  1. Green Hat: Do you have any new ideas or learning that relates to your piece(s) of work? Have you shared them in some way with anyone else in school or outside of school?
I have learned a lot, but no, I have not really shared it.
  1. Blue Hat: What goals or actions do you take to help with your learning, time at school, work habits or life outside of school?

I need to focus more on homework and block out distractions while doing my homework because sometimes I will get distracted and not feel like doing it, but I know I need to.

Book Talk Reflection

What would you take away from the book talk today?

Our book talk today was mediocre. First, I think we need to stay focused a little bit more because we went off topic a lot. Most of the times we were not too far off, but we were till off. So tomorrow my goal is to stay on topic more. I also want to reread the part of the book about the pearl on the dragon because we were confused about were it had come from. We at first had thought it was an extra eye, but most people disagreed. So we then thought maybe someone stuck it onto the dragon. We were also confused why it was keeping him from flying. We thought it was too heavy, but then we wondered why it would be so heavy; So than we thought i t had a magical spell to keep him from flying.I also had realised that Minli and  Dragon were actually quite alike. They are both willing to give up and risk themselves for others.  I had not really noticed that when I had been reading. I did take away a bit from this book talk, but not too much.

Weekly reflection

Each Monday morning you are going to be given some time to reflect about the previous week. Here is what it will look like:

  1. Discuss with classmates on a team what were some things from the previous week that you did in our classes? In a team it will help to remind you of all that you have done.
We took the chapter 13 test on india, in SS. Then we finished unit  5 in math. I also remember Christina’s Mom showing us her wonderful singing.
  1. Now it is your time to do a written reflection with detail about your learning last week. Use the following questions to help guide you:
Last week the whole class had a bit of a problem listening. We had to refocus many times and that still sometimes didn’t work. As an individual, I feel like I could have also worked a little bit more on listening too.
  • What were some of the  important learnings that you remember from last week? Give examples or how you learned them if you can.
I learned that ancient China and india both have a lot in common. First off, China is hot and dry in the summer and so it India. But they both also have big plateas and mountain ranges.
  • If you could tell someone who is not at this school something about your learning what would it be?
That if you get distracted in class, try your best to refocus because otherwise you are going to miss a lot of information.
  • What are some questions that you still have from these learnings last week?
  • What goals do you have this week?

Weekly Talk And Reflect

  1. Discuss with classmates on a team what were some things from the previous week that you did in our classes? In a team it will help to remind you of all that you have done
In science we graphed our density data. We used the application grapher on our computer and it was very easy. We also kept reading our red fleece book and we are now learning about polyester. In LA We also are learning about point of views like first person, third person, and others.
  1. Now it is your time to do a written reflection with detail about your learning last week. Use the following questions to help guide you:
I think last week was pretty good, but on friday the class was a little off task so it was hard to work. I think if we had talked less we hall would have been able to finish everything.
  • What were some of the  important learnings that you remember from last week? Give examples or how you learned them if you can.
I remember learning about enlarging shapes in math. We had and original picture, and then had to find out how the person got to the enlarged and shrunken pictures. Then we put them on a number line from 1-5.
  • If you could tell someone who is not at this school something about your learning what would it be?
I would tel them that last week we learned a lot. We learned how to enlarge and find the enlargement of numbers and how to graph your densities from displacement labs. We also are learning about ancient india which is vey cool. So learning last week was quite big.
  • What are some questions that you still have from these learnings last week?
I still have pretty much everything. SOme details are missing, but the major parts are in my head.
  • What goals do you have this week?

My goal is to get an ME on my spanish test because spanish means a lot to me and I want to do good.
