Hero Drawing

I chose to draw Winston Churchill because he is really inspiring. I would not say that he has made much of an impact on me but I definitely think of him as a very inspirational historical figure.

I would not say that I think of him any differently because of the drawing.

I am not a good drawer but the grid technique really helped because I was able to look at the drawing 1 piece at a time.

The grid was good for breaking it down. usually I look at a drawing as an intimidating thing but it allows you to look at it as lots of easy things. It allows you to look at it more intricately and not leave out important details. It also helps you keep the drawing proportionate.

Quarter 2 Goals for Grade 8

For reading, my goal will be to read 8 or 9 books. I have read 7 this quarter but I would like to push my self a little bit more. I will keep track of my progress on the reading log.

My writing writing goal is to develop more than just one character. I was having trouble with character development and almost all of my characters were static. Sometimes the character seemed that it was lacking development. Now that I have managed to increase this skill I would like to become better and also expand this skill to more than just the main protagonist. I will keep track of this by keeping record of my grades on character development on the rubrics.

This is an action photo of will jumping off of a rock. I have captured his jump in midair and because, it is a photo of him in motion, it is definitely in motion.

I think this photo might be related to war. The reason I say this is because It is such a desolate environment.

It is a photo of a train station. It is actually using the black and white to it’s advantage to make a better image than colour images could have captured

I think that this photo is of a very old city. I have absolutely no idea what the story might be about.

This photo, taken by Joseph Nicéphore Niépce, is actually the oldest surviving photograph in history.

This photo is abstract mainly because of the camera angle. It is a photo of 2 buildings but instead of taking the photo head on, it is from bottom up.

Screen Shot 2015-10-16 at 11.17.23 am   I think this photo of the Afghan girl is related to the war in Afghanistan. The reason for this is because of the intensity of her eyes and her torn clothes show the terror inflicted on the people in the war. The actual story is much in the same. Her eyes represent the haunting war that has damaged the people so much. I think The photo uses the diagonal lines technique to centre the eyes as the main subject.

This is a closeup of Myron’s face. Unlike other photos, this one is focused only on the face and not background content, making it a portrait.

This is an example of the fast shutter speed allowing a clear movement image.

This is the slow shutter speed allowing more light in making a brighter but more blurry image.

These are pictures of the persuasive piece. I am generally happy with my score but there is room for improvement. Unlike the last time, I got an ME for language and I am pleased with knowing that I’m Improving.

I got an ME for this reading comprehension. I am very happy and I want to try to at least maintain this score but try to strive for an EE.

After the literary techniques were given back, I realise how many mistakes I must have made regarding identifying with the audience, and expressing my writing with things like, I, making my writing objective. I also need to underline the book titles and put commas where they are needed. As usual in my writing, my main fault which hindered my grade was conventions, due to the lack of editing. I need to get into the mindset that a writing piece is never done when you get your actual writing done. I am constantly not editing to the extent that I should.

I think I did pretty well as I got almost all ME’s. I wish I just gave myself more time to get the conventions more refined and just generally look over the piece more carefully.
