We would love to encourage families to look for musical opportunities outside of school. Please find some resources below for music lessons and concert events.
Please note that Lower Primary does NOT offer after-school music lessons as an extracurricular activity.
Upper Primary offers after-school choir, orchestra (strings), and band (woodwinds, brass, and percussion) starting in Grade Three. These programs continue from Upper Primary to Middle School and High School.
MUSIC LESSONS
Tom Lee Music is a great resource for purchasing musical instruments and materials as well as finding small group classes or private lessons. On the Course section of their website, they list the classes that they currently offer – including voice, ukulele, piano, percussion, etc. This is a great place to start!

If you are interested in singing lessons for your child, there is a studio in Sheung Wan called American Vocal Studio (AVS) that offers lessons for young children.

The Suzuki approach provides a valuable way for young children to learn string instruments and piano. The approach is family-centered method and focuses on listening and cultivating a nurturing teacher-student relationship.

How do I find an instrument teacher who is the right fit for my child? Many families are interested in piano lessons and wonder if their young child is ready. We recommend looking for a teacher who offers a playful approach to balance the challenge of learning piano. Our top tip is to ask other parents in the HKIS community for recommendations. In addition, we have one teacher recommend who serves families in Repulse Bay and the south side of Hong Kong. Marina Tsang lives in Repulse Bay and can either teach at her apartment or travel to your home for piano lessons. Marina is currently accepting new piano students and you can reach her by phone or WhatsApp: 9327-4186 (Marina Tsang, piano teacher)
