LITTLE DRUMMER BOY<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today let&#8217;s sing a classic Christmas song, The Little Drummer boy. This song was written by Katherine Kennicott Davis in 1941 and it was first recorded in 1951 by the Trapp Family Singers (have you seen the Sound of Music?). This song tells the story of the Little Drummer Boy &#8212; a poor young boy who came with the Magi to see the newborn baby Jesus. Without a gift for the Infant, the little drummer boy played his drum for the baby. SHE&#8217;LL BE COMING ROUND THE MOUNTAIN!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today we will sing, &#8220;She&#8217;ll Be Comin&#8217; Round the Mountain.&#8221; This song was first sung by the African American community in the late 1800s as a religious spiritual. If you have ever wondered who the song means when it says, &#8220;She&#8217;ll be coming round the mountain when she comes,&#8221; it was actually intended to refer to the chariot lead by white horses that may appear with the Second Coming of Christ. Like many spirituals, this song was probably also a coded anthem for the Underground Railroad.
